Lord Ganesha is known as “Oushada Pati”, the Lord of all Medicines and their Healing Powers. Leaves of 21 different herbs are offered to Ganapati during Ganesh Chaturthi.
These medicinal leaves are known to spread their aroma, absorb toxins, destroy harmful bacteria and purify the indoor air, thus improving the well-being of the worshippers. During visarjan these leaves transfer their antiseptic and other healing properties to the water. Unfortunately today, the clay Ganesha and the beneficial leaves are missing!
Today, most of us are unable to identify these plants and their use is gradually disappearing. This talk is an initiative by the Magarpatta Environment Club to reconnect with our roots and revive our forgotten knowledge.
Genieji will display these plants and gift them to the Ganapati Mandal for future use. They will also distribute free of cost a short write up on the medicinal plants to the audience.
