Field Trip to College of Military Engineering (CME), Dapodi on Sunday, 19th July 2015
An excursion to CME, Dapodi is being conducted by the Magarpatta City Environment Club on Sunday, 19th July 2015. The College Campus has a man – made ‘Wetland Habitat’ in addition to the existing ‘Shrub land Habitat’ prevalent in & around Pune. Besides Bird watching, other activities planned are: –
- Visit to the Sapper Museum (Combat Engineering equipment used by our Defence Forces)
- Army Rowing Node. This artificial Water body has been created using Army resources, for providing world-class facilities to our Rowers for training & competing in International Competitions.
- Of the five artificial water bodies, the largest is the ‘Lake’ where the dirty water drawn from the Mula – Mutha River is made relatively clean, through natural processes for Boating / Sailing purposes. Boating for those interested has been organized.
The CME is approx. 15 Km from Magarpatta City and the travelling time is approx 30 minutes. In order to get adequate time for ‘Birding’ we shall be departing from Magarpatta City (Fountain near the Main Gate) as one group at 8.30 AM sharp and returning by 2 PM.
Enthusiasts are requested to intimate their names, age & Neighborhood to me by mail latest by 17 Jul 15. Please congregate with your personal vehicles (four wheelers preferred) at the Start Point by 8.15 AM to enable me to undertake a headcount and adjust those w/o transport. At CME, we shall park our vehicles in a central place and be accommodated in bus(s) for move to various locations.
Please carry your umbrellas / raincoats, cameras, binoculars & field guides (optional), caps, water bottles and snacks. Complimentary Tea & light Snacks are also being served by the College at the Lake.
